Reynoldsburg isn't a city known for it's interesting locations. It's not the city lacks in aesthetically pleasing locals, its just that the attractions Reynoldsburg boasts are places not immediately known to the public. These attractions range from local businesses which offer the small town charm we love about Reynoldsburg, to some natural parks.
The beauty in Reynoldsburg lies not only in it's settings, but also in the people who make it all worth while. With all of this in mind we decided to write a few articles detailing some of the exact places we think anyone (whether a local resident or a visitor) should visit in Reynoldsburg. Each article we will detail five places, and for the first iteration we have some of the best places to eat , exercise, and enjoy on the list.
Prost Beer and Wine Cafe
Prost cafe is nestled in the heart of old Reynoldsburg on main Street. Upon passing the outdoor dining area you can immediately appreciate and notice the art of presentation which the cafe takes pride in. Not only does Prost offer a wide selection of beer and wine tastes to accommodate any would be guest, they also have the same wide selection of deliciously prepared food. What makes Prost special, however, is the fact that it was built over a historical backbone of old Reynoldsburg, the volunteer fire station which opened in 1947. Not only does Prost recognize the history which helped bring their vision to life, they also look to change the culture of Reynoldsburg in a friendly way.
Vick's Pizza
There's nothing like pizza on a Friday night, or any other night for that matter! Vicks Pizzeria, established in 1961, the pizzeria now serves from one of the most historic places in Reynoldsburg; the old Connell Hardware store. Not only has it moved its doors, it also updated its whole look and feel. Arcade machines, Reynoldsburg memorabilia, and more visually pleasing objects grace the walls of a family centered place. Conveniently, you can also order online here. Vick's Pizza has always been at the heart of Reynoldsburg's food service scene, and will surely be here for years to come.
5 Bean Cofffee
Nothing beats waking up with a fresh cup of coffee! Why not make your morning cup of joe a local one? 5 Bean coffee is a local shoppe which produces iced and blended CrimsonCup coffee and Loose leaf tea. With over fifty different syrups and sauces, they have just as much variety as the huge national chains. What makes this spot unique is it's feel; a more neighborly approach to what a coffee shoppe should be. Not only does 5 Bean embrace this service with a smile, they also offer all the same commodities as any other coffee shoppe. Free WiFi, TV, and a convenient drive thru for those busy weekday commutes. Sitting directly near one of the entries of Reynoldsburg, 5 Bean is a shoppe worthy of any Reynoldsburg resident's business.
Blacklick Metro Park
Blacklick Metro Park is one of, if not the best natural attraction Reynoldsburg has to offer. With over six hundred acres of land the park includes a bike/walking trail which extends to Pickerington, nature centers, picnic areas, golf course, and a playground. Activities here vary from sledding in the winter to pond watching in warmer weather. Countless animals can be spotted foraging in the deep woods near the nature centers and the swamp is sure to provide some scary nightmares about what may live underneath. One thing is for sure, Blacklick woods has something for almost everyone who wants to enjoy the outdoors.
The Reynoldsburg Mural
The history of Reynoldsburg is hard to encompass in one image, but if we had to pick one it'd definitely be the mural painted on the side of Hunter's Florist and Cotner Funeral Home. Work on the mural began in 2009 by artist Curtis Goldstein, and encapsulates many of the things which make Reynoldsburg significant. On the left members of the U.S Military from Reynoldsburg wear their pride as just some of the many men and women who sacrificed their life or time for the security of the nation. On the right Hannah Ashton and the middle school named after her are displayed right below Alexander Livingston, the man responsible for stabilizing the Tomato so it could be bred for different flavors. This also explains why the tomato plant is also painted in full right next to Alexander Livingston and the Livingston house which still stands today. Lastly a map of Reynoldsburg is painted directly above images which were inspired by the fact that the underground railroad ran through Reynoldsburg and much of central Ohio. The mural is a beautiful image to see in person, and the best thing is that it's right next to two other entries on this list (Vick's Pizza and Prost).
